So many things in the US are in a mess. Their electricity supplies, as you mentioned, their infrastructure, health service, etc. Yet their industry, military power and general progress have not suffered. Why do you think it is so?

It's all a matter of priorities. In the US, the military is sacrosanct. and the vastly more flexible labour market has helped businesses remain dynamic. they can simply cut costs much quicker and much more aggressively than european or Asian companies can. Hire and fire has its downsides for employees, but is overall positive for the economy.

Plus, US businesses tend to adopt new technologies that enhance productivity faster than companies in Europe, for example, which helps drive productivity growth.
