I was always surprised how my daughter, who studied abroad, told me when I asked her what vibe she felt when people heard she was from Germany. Apparently people expressed the belief that Germany was "awesome". Something has definitely changed over the last decades, and I think it may have to do with what people experience when they visit Berlin, which is a kind of coming of age thing nowadays.

The U.S. has suffered greatly from the escapades of the W. Bush era, not to mention Maga. And Brexit harmed the U.K. even more than Tony Blair. The result of the analysis showing these two countries have a lot less Soft Power than they used to is nonetheless surprising.
