I have a different opinion. Germany is on its way becoming ‘the sick man of Europe’., not only due to its dependency on the fossil fuel of Vlad the Mad. The once famous Autobahn isn’t the racetrack it used to be. Last year I travelled from Nordrhein Westfalen to Bavaria and was flabbergasted by all the repair done on the roads. Nearly every 40 miles there was a roadblock. And the digital payment infrastructure in Bavaria has still to be constructed, whereas the French (due to COVID?) accept contactless payments (even in the most rural regions)….
Nur mal so am Rande erwähnt, Anfang der 80er Jahre war der Austro Pop aber meilenweit der Neuen Deutsche Welle enteilt und zeitlich um Dekaden voraus ;-)
Marks for obscure musical reference
…und kost’ Benzin auch 2 Mark 10……these days it seems most people are crawling along the autobahn just to save on consumption
I'd give it two likes, if I could, just for the video!
Now I know 3 German bands. Bad Boys Blue, Heino, and these guys. :)
Four, I forgot Modern Talking! Great 80s retro.
What about Nena and 99 Red Balloons? What about Kraftwerk? Rammstein? The Scorpions? Guano Apes? Alphaville? Milli Vanilli?
Oh, of course, and Mannheim Steamroller jawohl?
I always used to wonder why we didn't have more German pop music in the rest of the world.
Now I know why.
It's the country that adores David Hasselhoff. What can I say...
.....don't mess with The Hoff
He knocked down the Berlin Wall and got rid of German Communism (at least that's how I remember it).
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Based not only on recent personal experience, but also this research from the OECD https://www.oecd.org/germany/germany-invest-more-in-infrastructure-digital-economy-and-energy-transition-for-a-strong-and-greener-recovery-from-covid-19-crisis.htm
