I think the description of NFT's are fair for a large number of projects, but there are projects where existing as anything other than an NFT is impossible. I thought I'd share an interesting one that I have come across - 0xmusic.
0xmusic is an NFT that when put through an app, randomly generates music based on the graphical elements of that picture. The app only allows you to use it by connecting your ETH wallet and if you own the NFT.
My opinion is that once the hype of NFT dies down, there will be genuine use-cases of NFT's where it would be impossible to implement something another way. At that point, NFT's will probably be worth something.
