Floods: I recall some years ago British insurers set up ‘Flood Reinsurance’ to cover the worst areas; but of course someone has to pay. HMGs of all parties have failed to address the consequences of climate change - build flood defences etc. They are obsessed with ‘green energy’ when windmills are not wired up to the National Grid, and solar panels use a decreasing world reserve of lithium etc and are badly polluting at end of usable life. Going Nuclear would be better: no CO2. Meanwhile British industry & consumers have some of highest energy prices in Europe.
Drought: as North Africa becomes more desert, people will have to migrate, but all we do is put them in camps in the Mediterranean or elsewhere. We must hope that human ingenuity and science can adapt but little sign of that yet. Jeremy Grantham has some interesting views.
