If you had told me several months ago Trump would attack Harvard - older than the US itself 166X? - I wouldn't have believed you. Making America Great again going so well isn't it? Good thing Canada has shut it's borders to Americans so they can't migrate there like Swedes did to Norway. Maybe Mexico will let a few Americans in down on their luck...

Well, if you live here in the UK, you will meet a lot of americans all of a sudden. The Cotswolds have become the Hamptons of England: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/may/10/were-in-the-hamptons-of-england-trump-sends-wealthy-americans-fleeing-for-the-cotswolds

Yes, and I hear NZ residency claims from Americans going up too. I'm in Birmingham UK so haven't witnessed an influx just yet, I'm still a novelty;-) Not only brain but money drain from the US. I gather there's been a lot of money taken out of the US stock market as well and gone into European equities. Making America Great Again going really really well eh? At least the US war profiteers making bumper profits...

it doesn't affect the political calculus for authoritarian parties.

to paraphrase joni ernst from the gop : its the under-educated...something would end up killing them anyway whether they comprehend it or not.

As is often the case I want to know what other variables may have been omitted…. But my burning question is - did mortality in Norway correspondingly go down?

The paper itself notes that mortality increased in Sweden but did not decrease in Norway at a statistically significant level.
